Rumrunners Celebrity Chef Night Set to Dazzle Yet Again

Aching to throw on a fancy dress for a great cause? The biggest summer fundraiser brings together local chefs to raise money for the children’s hospital.

Right about now, you may be missing the swanky parties of gala season. Sign on for philanthropic fun—with food being a big factor—at the Rumrunners Celebrity Chef Night on Aug.17.

Over the past 14 years, it has turned into the area’s biggest summer fundraiser. More than $1 million to date has been brought in for Barbara’s Friends, the Golisano Children’s Hospital’s cancer fund. Last year alone raised about $150,000.

Rumrunners chefs and co-owners Todd Johnson and Ralph Centalonza will headline the night alongside other local stars including Harold Balink of Harold’s, Keith Meyer of Trabue, Wilhelm Gahabka of Bay Colony Club, Brian Roland of Crave Culinaire and Ryan Love of Normal Love.

“I make the chefs cook in the dining room at chef’s stations,” Johnson says. “It’s a spectacular night. They know it’s a big event.”

Held at Rumrunners on a beautiful, mangrove-lined canal in Cape Coral, the event also features both silent and live auctions, plus a drawing involving a champagne toast that the carries the chance to win a $2,000 piece of custom jewelry by gemologist Mark Loren.

Bring your A-game for a taste of the chefs’—and it’s even better knowing it’s for a worthy cause.
