A sedentary life can affect your body in surprising ways.

Sitting has been getting a bad rap in recent years. It’s been linked to a whole host of health ailments—increased risks of heart disease and diabetes, among them. But the latest will haunt you down to a cellular level. Literally.

A study in the American Journal of Epidemiology looked at the DNA of women who sat for more than 10 waking hours a day. What it found was that their cells basically aged at a faster pace than those who were more active. At its worst, the cells were basically eight years "older" than the participants themselves.

So, add some years back to your life and try these suggestions to keep moving during the day.
