Forget the Lottery. Just Get Good Sleep.

New study shows mood increased drastically over time with ample rest

Ever wake up feeling like (you’ve won) a million bucks? 

Turns out, getting into the habit of good sleep can provide a mood boost similar to that of winning the lottery. A study published in Sleep followed more than 30,000 British people over the course of four years. Those who reported getting better rest over that time scored just as well as people who said they won the lottery. Of course, waking up in the morning after a solid eight hours isn’t like the thrill of striking it rich. But over the long term, the study argues, the mood enhancements of good sleep and a boost in fortune end up similar.
