Best Bite: Ricotta Gnocchi at Teatro

BY September 29, 2016

Annexed to the Southwest Florida Performing Arts Center and open every night to the public, Teatro's star is acclaimed chef Michael Psilakis. He’s one of only a handful of Greek chefs ever to be recognized by the Michelin guide. (Read more about Psilakis here.) Here, he has reached into his upscale comfort food repertoire, an act he perfected through several successful Greco-Italian restaurants in the New York area. Beyond all else, the gnudi are the showstoppers. Masquerading under the title of “gnocchi,” these little whipped clouds of ricotta (not potato) dumplings are offset by a fonduta punctuated with fried sage and crispy prosciutto. The ample portion and on-pitch flavors deserve a standing ovation.
