When it comes to art academies, there is possibly none more significant and star-studded than Paris’ École des Beaux-Arts. The Baker Museum has landed a number of its masterpieces—most previously unseen outside the school—for a titan of an exhibit that lives up to its title: Gods and Heroes. Submerge yourself in 17th to 19th century works of epic proportions: dozens upon dozens by the likes of François Boucher, Jacques-Louis David and Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres in the first U.S. exhibit of its kind in more than 40 years. You have from Feb. 21 to May 17 to be blown away by canvases that not only stand alone as emphatic but also collectively influenced the history of Western art and possibly even legitimized the profession of artiste.
