Red velvet doughnutI’ve never met a doughnut I didn’t love. But now I’ve met my new obsession: the red velvet cream cheese-filled wonder at Divine Donuts on College Parkway in Fort Myers.
Typically a yeast doughnut nut (don’t get me started on Krispy Kreme), I am now a convert. This cake doughnut with its sweet glaze, buttermilk tang and impossibly creamy fill rolled right to the top of my best-doughnut list.

Key lime doughnut, a local favoriteWe also tried the Key lime cake doughnut and a Bavarian cream filled glazed from Divine’s selection – up to 60 on any given day. Delicious both, but no competition for my red velvet – smooth and rich as a monarch’s robe.
Other customer favorites on the menu include the Samoa, inspired the eponymous Girl Scout cookie; Peanut Butter Dream, a fantasy of chocolate, Oreos and PB; and the chocolate dipped Divine M&M. The menu also touts it cronuts, cronut holes, cannoli and apple fritters, plus savory egg sandwiches and the must-try chicken & donuts.
