Hollywood 20 in North Naples is barely recognizable with its new upscale look. Closed since Hurricane Irma in September 2017, the renovated cinema is finally reopening this week.
After most movie screens went dark for many months because of the coronavirus pandemic, expect some action Friday, August 21st as many area cinemas flicker back to life. Tickets are on sale now for national theater chain Regal, which relaunches movies today, Aug. 21, at three theaters in Lee and Collier counties. Movies are showing again at Regal Belltower in south Fort Myers, the Regal cinema at Gulf Coast Town Center and Regal Naples in North Naples. Paragon Pavilion also reopens Aug. 21 in North Naples as well as many AMC theaters nationwide. Not opening until next week are AMC’s Merchants Crossing 16 in North Fort Myers (opening Aug. 27), Silverspot Cinema in Naples (opening Aug. 27) and Regal Coconut Point in Estero (opening Aug. 28). Reopening plans include health and safety measures based on guidelines provided by the CDC. In most cases, moviegoers will be required to wear face masks while in the lobby, hallways and restrooms.
