One of our best restaurants—which has also been one of the last hold-outs for taking an extended off-season absence—has decided to ease up on hitting the pause button.
Alexander's, helmed by the talented Alexander Bernard, has always taken a looooong hiatus from May until the snowbirds start flocking back. But this year, his eponymous spot will be open for rounds of his organic meats and Gulf catches all the way to the end of June for dinner (lunch service has already ceased). The dining room and beautiful courtyard patio will then stay dormant for July, August and September, and he’ll pick up again right when we’re really craving one of his delectable crispy duck salads, wild mushroom and goat cheese purses, or braised Colorado lamb.
If it has seemed like everyone these days keeps saying season feels longer and longer, proof is in the tourism statistics and demographics. Now restaurants are following suit.
