Burrata, Bolognese, breaded veal—a meal at most Italian restaurants can put you in a happy place, no doubt. But when it’s pushing 90 degrees outside, your body needs something lighter. The menu at Osteria Celli goes way beyond the red-sauce formula with thoughtful pairings like a fried veal cutlet over arugula salad. Even the pastas, handmade each day, have a fresh perspective, such as this saffron-infused cavatelli. The elongated shells are topped with a sauté of Gulf shrimp, cauliflower florets, olive oil and chili flakes. While visiting, make sure to try the “wine specials,” which are unique by-the-glass options that vary frequently, yet another distinguishing feature from chef-owner Marco Coricelli. Or, opt for one of the monthly multi-course wine dinners starting in May for a glimpse of the chef’s full (and refreshing) range.
