Jambalaya at SS Hookers
Any time of day is ideal to let the good times roll at SS Hookers, a new seafood joint with a Southern-inflected menu. The kitchen is open from breakfast till the wee hours of the night. But we’ll whistle Dixie in anticipation of the jamba- laya served at dinner, a piquant mix of juicy shrimp, smoky andouille sausage, peppery tasso ham, chicken, vegetables and rice swimming in a tomato-seafood stock. We’ll also let you in on a little secret: The restau- rant, a stone’s throw from the boat ramp by the Sanibel Causeway, has an off-menu option to reel in local anglers. Bring your catch, and they’ll cook it—blackened, grilled or fried—so you can kick back while savoring the day’s rewards.
