Kevin Stoneburner is back in the restaurant business—and not slowing down anytime soon.
As the owner and developer of Bayfront, the colorful waterfront mixed-use playground that hosts some of Naples’ largest epicurean events (including the upcoming Taste of Collier on May 6), Stoneburner holds a unique position in the local restaurant world.
Earlier last year, he sold his longtime steakhouse, Stoney’s, to Bob Germain (who relaunched it as St. Germain Steakhouse). But his departure from restaurant ownership didn’t last long. By last December, he was back in the game, opening Stoney’s Stone Crab in the former Mereday’s Brasserie spot. He’s positioned it in the same league as standard-bearing seafood haven Truluck’s on Fifth Avenue South.
Meanwhile, Stoneburner is also ushering in a new wave of culinary commerce and construction. Southern Latitudes, a pub offering comfort food and brews on tap from local breweries, should be up and running by spring. Along the marina, Shane’s Cabana Bar is being razed with the goal of expansion and modernization. And the corner that belonged to Roy’s will morph into a full-service restaurant dishing out healthful delights à la True Food Kitchen or The Local.
