Local Broadway seekers need not travel even as far as their neighboring county this month to get their fix, as An American in Paris is playing both at Artis—Naples (Jan. 16-21) and Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall at FSW (Jan. 23-28). The production about an American soldier, a mysterious French girl and the City of Light hasn’t made its way to Southwest Florida before, so needless to say we’re looking forward to its debut. Originally a film—inspired by the 1928 same-named orchestral composition by the one and only George Gershwin—it was nominated for 12 Tonys and came away with the top prize for some of the most important makings of a delicious musical: choreography, orchestrations and scenic design.
