KimKeever-K3Abstract10536-1
You can see the science in the art of Kim Keever, formerly and briefly a thermal engineer on NASA projects. At first glance, his works are a mystery. That burst of color or tuft of cloud—is it an otherworldly painting? An extra-ethereal photograph? The truth behind the captivating creations is this: He builds miniature scenes, submerges them in the water of a 200-gallon tank, lets paint loose and then photographs the moment before it’s gone. See works ranging from a snapshot resembling the misty corner of a national park to the completely abstract in an exhibition today through April 17 at Thomas Riley Studio.
