Chances are you’ve read To Kill a Mockingbird. Chances are if you don’t count it among your favorite novels, you at least appreciate it. (It won the Pulitzer Prize, after all.) And in a world where the book is nearly always better than the movie, even the ’62 film adaptation of Harper Lee’s classic tale of contesting racial inequality in the Deep South is widely beloved, so powerful and widely affecting is the story. Florida Repertory Theatre hopes to add its take to the esteemed versions Feb. 14 through March 8, and you can bet the troupe will respect the original while still breathing their own creative life into it.
