The month's many collaborations begin with a take on Gershwin political musical comedy Of Thee I Sing. TheatreZone’s Equity actors are again joining forces with professors and students of Florida Gulf Coast University’s theater and music programs, this time to bring back to life the first musical to take home a Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The lampoon of national institutions targets (and spares) no side in particular, through the lens of the campaign and presidency of one John P. Wintergreen—who runs on the “love” platform. It should be a nice dose of levity ahead of our looming real-time election, and we’re looking forward to seeing some of our region’s budding creatives stretch their legs alongside such an established group. The production runs Oct. 6-9 at FGCU’s U. Tobe Recital Hall.
