I made the mistake once of wearing a leopard raincoat and carrying my Kate Spade bag, adorable with an abstract (or so I thought) zebra pattern and a signature bow, to an all-male meeting at a local Caddy dealer. My phone rang, I answered it and one of my interviewees couldn’t help pointing out the leopard-print Otterbox and proffering the obvious: “I guess you like animal prints.”
Like I said, I did it once. Duly noted. Never again.
Maybe it’s a guy thing. My husband will forever associate leopard print with Peg Bundy and Married with Children.
Many of us are captivated by animal prints. They get our attention – whether welcomed or not. They’re a staple in interior design, a call-of-the-wild element that can’t even be called a trend. Like it or not guys, they’re here to stay.
Fabric furniture manufacturer Jessica Charles’ new zebra and tiger collection includes pieces for every room in the house, even the nursery. The metallic threads in the Jenna bench gives zebra an updated and glam look. The company’s Hug chaise, with a curve-embracing S design features a matte Eden Onyx zebra print with silver threading. Both are available at Robb & Stucky International in Fort Myers and Naples.
Grrr, baby, grrr.
