Chairs can be a little like men (or women): Classy and totally supportive, a bit sharp around the edges and (fingers crossed) a little naughty. Some are like chameleons, vanishing into the background and a little hard to define, sort of like the Victory side chairs with acrylic legs and backs (available in 20 different colors plus customer-selected upholstery at Clive Daniel Homes, Naples).
Taylor King’s Pimlico is the rock of the chair world, solid, sturdy and inviting–and appropriately upholstered in a Greek key fabric called “Hercules” citron ($1,795 at Norris Home Furnishings, Fort Myers and Naples).
Skram’s v5 is the rocker–literally and figuratively–enticing us with its black leather (in the saddle sling seat), its edgy look and its cool name (think Sting, Bono). Designed by Jacob Marks and reminiscent of the mid-century Eames lounge chair, the v5 is heavy metal in all black, more rockabilly in a combo of ebonized walnut with rift-sawn white oak seat. ($5,662, through skramfurniture.com).
Cappellini’s Marcel Wanders-designed Knotted chair is our Christian Gray of the chairdom, a wee bit naughty and come-hitherly. The small armchair features knotted carbon and aramide fiber cord with an epoxy resin finish. ($4,184 and available through Miami’s Poltrona Frau Group, poltronafraumiami.net).
