The Guadalupe Center Resale Shop volunteers were honored as 2017 Diamond Volunteer award winners by Kelly E. Capolino, local Realtor and founder of the Diamond Volunteer Awards program. The organization’s volunteers and guests were treated to a cocktail reception and award ceremony on February 27 at Mediterra.
The reception recognized many dedicated volunteers of the Guadalupe Center Resale Shop and praised their hard work, countless volunteer hours, and their willingness to be ambassadors for the organization’s mission. Capolino presented the Diamond Volunteer framed award to Kat McNabb and Greethal Leon from the Guadalupe Center Resale Shop.
The group was selected from among many applicants for their valuable contributions they make in the lives of local children. The Guadalupe Center provides children of Immokalee access to high-quality, innovative academic and special support programs strategically designed to start from six weeks of age and continue through college graduation.
Capolino, local real estate professional with Downing-Frye Realty, founded the award program in 2009 with the first awards presented in 2010. Each year groups are chosen based on their exceptional volunteer dedication and the positive influence that they make in the lives of others.
Since the Diamond Volunteer Awards inception, there have been three groups chosen each year with the exception of one year when four groups were honored. The program is now in its eighth year and will celebrate a “Silver” milestone this season when the total number of non-profit organizations receiving the award reaches 25.
