Guess it can be hard to face yourself when you’re not eating well.
A new study from Cornell University found that students who ate a piece of cake in front of a mirror, compared to those who didn’t, claimed it didn’t taste as good. Then the researchers tried the same setup but gave the students fruit. The participants in the two groups reported not difference in taste.
“A glance in the mirror tells people more than just about their physical appearance. It enables them to view themselves objectively and helps them to judge themselves and their behaviors in a same way that they judge others,” said lead researcher Ata Jami.
And, lo and behold, the basis for a whole new weight loss plan—The Judge-Yourself-While-Eating-Cake Diet.
