It’s hard to keep up with trends. Especially when it seems like they’re changing constantly, like in the food industry.
The editors at Eat This, Not That went straight to the source. They talked to nutritionists to see which trends are here to stay—and which should go by the wayside. Here are a few:
Ditch almond milk. Many people have switched to almond milk because it has fewer calories than cow’s milk. The downside is that it lacks protein and contains lots of fillers.
Keep protein at the forefront. As more people go vegetarian, they may not be getting the right amount of protein. So, make sure you’re eating things like Greek yogurt, beans and peas, eggs and cottage cheese.
Look to the sea. Speaking of protein, seafood is a good source. And, it’s low in calories and saturated fats.
Ditch the diet drinks. They’re still not that much better than regular soda. And, artificial sweeteners may lead to sugar cravings.
