Almost everything tastes better grilled: steak, chicken, red velvet cake, etc. But adding fire to things such as meat can cause the formation of cancer-causing particles. Yep, it turns out that delicious soot is not good for you after all. But a new study found that if you one one other grilling essential to the mix—beer—you can reduce the development of carcinogens by as much as 50 percent. All you have to do is marinate the meat in beer (dark ales and stouts proved most effective) for four hours to help keep free radicals from developing. It's great news. Just don't grill and drive.
