Nearly 400 tennis fans, participants and supporters attended the first-ever FineMark FGCU Collegiate Open at Bonita Bay Club. Over the three-day tournament, Florida Gulf Coast University men’s and women’s tennis teams competed against nine schools, including University of Kentucky, Princeton University, Purdue University and University of Illinois.
Bonita Bay Club members volunteered their time to coordinate the event and hosted student athletes for the weekend. Proceeds from the club’s series of 2018-2019 tennis events – including November’s 38th Annual Naples Fort Myers Tennis Challenge and the FineMark Women’s USTA Pro Circuit Championship in May – benefit New Horizons of Southwest Florida, where Bonita Bay Club volunteers help empower at-risk youth to reach their full potential through tutoring, mentoring and faith-building.
