Staying healthy doesn’t have to be that complicated. In fact, a study in Circulation spells out what you need to do to add more years onto your life. In short, eat a healthy diet, don’t smoke, get regular exercise, don’t drink to excess and maintain an average weight. Of course, easier said than done. But researchers found that subjects lived about 12 years longer than those who didn’t take those steps. The catch: Only about 2 percent of the participants in the study met all five goals.
