Last night, Gulfshore Business magazine honored 40 young adults for their inspiring success in the business arena. Being a young professional in Southwest Florida, I found their stories of achievement and triumph inspiring.
Honorees included doctors battling cancer; entrepreneurs, from a chocolatier to a tattoo artist, building thriving businesses (which in this economy is worthy of an award no matter the age); and lawyers defending the city and civilians. Despite their various career choices, they all had one thing in common: They care about the community. Each honoree strove to give something back, offering their talents and time. It makes you feel as if the path to success isn’t simply built on hard work, but also good deeds and service.
Being young, I don’t have a ton of money. School loans and bills must be paid, which leaves little for necessities let alone donations. It’s nice (and sometimes necessary) to be reminded that even if you don’t have dollars to donate you can always give a bit of your time and skills.
