The challenge was set: Raise as much as possible for Collier County nonprofits over a 24-hour period. And, once again, the challenge was met.
About $3,917,731 was raised during the fourth annual "Give Where You Live Collier" campaign that ended Thursday afternoon. The total amount was slightly less than the $4 million raised last year, but the number of unique donors increased by 25 percent, according to a release from the Community Foundation of Collier County. The foundation hosted the event with the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation. The two organizations chipped in matching grants worth $500,000 toward the grand total.
The campaign supported 38 organizations, ranging from Habitat for Humanity of Collier County to the Guadalupe Center. See the full list of organizations and how much each raised here.
“We are continually amazed at how our community comes together to show their love and support for Collier County. Together, we all made a difference by supporting basic needs and education,” said Eileen Connolly-Keesler, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of Collier County, in a news release.
