Here’s a good reason people flee Southwest Florida in the summer. The heat is a bummer. And, scientifically speaking, that heat may be slowing you down mentally. A study conducted at the University of Houston found that people literally didn’t want to think too much in the heat. It found that sales of scratch-off lotto tickets declined the hotter it got. Why? There were too many tickets to choose from. Another study found that people tasked with proofreading a paper did much worse in a hotter room compared to a nicely chilled space. So, cancel your plans. A day of relaxing in the AC is in order.
