Inside
Getting a fix of ceviche, to-die-for Parmesan scallops (more on those later) or any other Peruvian delicacy for that matter has come a lot closer to home for many Neapolitans and visitors to our shores: Inca's Kitchen now has a second location at the Pavilion shopping center on the corner of U.S. 41 and Vanderbilt Beach Road. Before, anyone living within a stone's throw of the Gulf was willing to drive the 10-plus miles and wait in line for one of the coveted tables at Chef Rafael Rottiers' original jewel-box space in the eastern stretches of town. But now that we don't have to, it leaves more time for sipping pisco sours, sampling the 12 different ceviches and savoring classic dishes, like lomo saltado, in the new and massive (more than 7,000 square feet!) handsomely appointed space.
Stay tuned for our full review of the restaurant in a future issue of the magazine. But for now, here's a peek at some of what piqued our interest on a recent visit...
Lomo a la Huancaina:
Thin slices of fork-tender beef with a zesty sauce are a delightful way to start your meal.
Galana de Conchas:
Don't miss this appetizer (one of Gulfshore Life's Best of 2014): tender scallops smothered with melted Parmesan cheese and spiked with lime juice.
Lomo Panca Imperial:
This 10-ounce hunk of tenderloin is cooked so well, you almost don't need a knife to slice it. And the earthy panca sauce (almost reminiscent of a Mexican mole) adds a layer of complexity.
Octopus Anticucho:
Also served with panca, two large tentacles are complemented by petite tacu tacu cakes (a fried mix of chickpeas and rice).
Dessert:
Flan and cake, both laced with caramel, were a sweet finale to a flawless meal.
