The odds of dying increase as we get older, right? Seems obvious. Well, a new study is challenging that notion. Research published in Science found that mortality rates actually plateaued in people older than 105. How does that make sense? Generally, your likelihood of dying doubles every eight years. But once you hit 105 years old, according to this study, your chance of dying with each passing year actually levels off. Now, we’re all going to die at some point. But if the risk of mortality statistically never reaches 100 percent, who is to say we can’t live forever? Yes, that’s absurd. If anything, what the study is indicating is that humans may have the ability to live much longer than we’ve ever thought possible.
