Makeup remover, then cleanser, then an exfoliator, then toner, then essence… these are just five steps of the 10-step Korean skin care routine featured on Soko Glam, a skin-first beauty retailer created by expert Charlotte J. Cho.
Korean skincare products have become a hot commodity, finding homes in high-end beauty stores like Sephora and Ulta.
Buzzfeed’s Cissy Worstell and Sheridan Watson tried their own version of the routine for a week, including products from Banila Co., Nooni, Cosrx and Oolu (to name a few). The entire process took around half an hour, and overall the women’s skin looked generally fresher, tighter and radiantly glowing.
While this routine might not fit every schedule, there are key parts to incorporate into your daily skincare practices.
SPF care and moisturizers are a must for the summer weather. Exposure to the sun and salty ocean water can dry out your skin and strip it of its oils and natural hydration. Exfoliators once a week will keep dead skin at bay and leave your face looking smooth and even.
If you only prefer cleansers but still want the Korean beauty experience, try using the Konjac Sponge for a deep clean that’s gentle on sensitive skin.
