I never have been one to hide my love for pretty much anything Jim Pepper and his family put their stamp on. And there’s a lot to love lately.
After decades running their old-school butcher shop near Golden Gate Parkway, just a few years ago they decided to launch an upscale-casual fine-dining steakhouse, Jimmy P’s Charred; a butcher shop and café in Bonita Springs; and a burger joint on Immokalee Road, Jimmy P’s Burgers & More.
That last one was sent with angel wings to North Naples fans—we no longer had to drive all the way downtown in a pinch for a wagyu patty. However, there was room for improvement. It started as fast-casual (but sometimes lacked the “fast”); it was meant to be the kind of place you walked up to the counter, grabbed a burger and went your merry way.
Some big changes were put in place this summer, and they’ve made a noticeable difference (hallelujah!). For one, putting in efficient tables has actually sped up the experience and aided in cleanup (dirty baskets had a tendency to pile). And the switch freed the central alley, where the line had snaked, to add more tables (so now more people can squeeze in and be served even when it’s busy). Arguably the best part, though, is that they’ve expanded the menu. What had been basically just burgers and sandwiches (including a crazy-good cheesesteak), includes a hefty amount of daily specials, including veggie sides, several new salads, extra sandwiches and entrées.
