As we’ve covered here in the past, sitting can be a silent killer. Inactivity can open up a whole host of problems, but most of us don’t really realize it. If you’re stuck at a desk job with a long commute, before you know it, you’re sitting for the majority of your waking hours.
A simple way to get more active: Walking. Just walking 30 minutes a day is shown to reduce blood pressure, risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes, among other ills.
But it does more than just make your body feel better. It can stimulate creativity and help you be more productive during your day. Neuroscientist and writer Andrew Tate explains more in his blog.
So, bottom line: Next time you feel too lazy for the gym, at least take a couple laps around the block. Your body and brain will thank you.
