Canal views, sturdy construction and a lofty, open plan make this Port Royal home the consummate modern-day Southwest Florida residence. The West Indies-inspired interior is an homage to the neighborhood’s Caribbean namesake: the Jamaican city, where, in the 17th century, privateers would spend their treasure. An earthquake and hurricanes later destroyed the island town. When our stateside Port Royal was pummeled by a superstorm last year, this 2021 build remained unscathed due to its concrete construction and hurricane-impact doors and windows.
The Naples design team: VIV Homes and Stofft Cooney Architects maximized indoor and outdoor gathering spaces: a multitiered lanai features a heated saltwater pool and spa, and the alfresco living area with a fireplace and multiple seating areas is adjacent to a fully stocked outdoor kitchen. The setting has picturesque azure views of Old Harbour Channel and the preserve to the south.
The more-than-6,500-square-foot home features a mostly white and gray palette: marble floors, quartzite counters in the kitchen and custom millwork throughout are balanced by the hues of the wide-plank Legno Bastone wood flooring and open-beam and two-tone coffered ceiling. Amenities like a Lutron lighting system, an elevator and a four-car garage exalt the five-bedroom, six-bath (plus two half baths) estate’s appeal. The home, at 3300 Fort Charles Drive, is being sold turn-key. The property was listed at $23.9 million as of February by Premier Sotheby’s International Realty.
