The Ritz-Carlton, Naples' grand return

After being shuttered for two years, the iconic resort returns better than ever.

The Ritz-Carlton, Naples, returned to majestic form in July with its long-awaited reopening after being shuttered since May 2021. The renovation and expansion are fitting for the location, which is considered the national crown jewel for The Ritz-Carlton, opening as the second resort for the brand in 1983.

Architect Cooper Carry and Parker-Torres Design worked to honor the property’s history while ke eping the future in mind. The refresh includes the new 14-story Van derbilt Tower for Club Level Guests, complete with a 4,000-square-foot lounge and a gold-flecked bar. In the main space, a revamped lobby with a Champagne bar welcomes guests, and down on the Beach Level, by the pools, Naples fashion stalwart Marissa Collections opened a ‘capsule collection’ mini version of their boutique. Outside, the team replaced the 38-year-old family pool and erected 10 air-conditioned cabanas.

Returning guests can expect a comforting sense of familiarity. The resort held positions for displaced workers after Hurricane Ian, so many of the same smiling faces still greet patrons by name at the door. And, traditions like the holiday festivities remain intact. Expect chef Lerome Campbell and his team of pastry elves to deck out the life-sized gingerbread house for December visits. Littles can look forward to breakfast with Santa (may we suggest the elf-sized pancakes?) and the longtime favorite Teddy Bear Tea. “The Ritz-Carlton, Naples has always been home to so many cherished memories and traditions,” general manager Mark Ferland says. “We’re just looking to continue to enhance that experience for many years.”
