Editor's Note 9/10/18: Due to an unforeseen circumstance, the restaurant is rescheduling the whiskey pairing dinner.
In the short while it has been anchored on the western end of one of Naples' most popular thoroughfares, Sails Restaurant has raced to the front of that crowded restaurant field, offering fish flown in fresh from across the world and prepared with a deft touch.
With a bit more than half a year under its belt, it’s now wading into hosting special events, like the upcoming “A Spirited Evening at Sails” on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 6 p.m. Each of the night’s eight courses will be paired with the finest scotches. To whiskey drinkers, single malts and blends from Scotland are the gold standard, and the labels being poured—Balvenie, Glenfiddich and Monkey Shoulder—are the Gucci, Prada and Versaces of that world. The cost is $235 per person (plus tax and gratuity), and not only is the feast interesting from an epicurean standpoint, but all proceeds after the cost of food and drink will be donated to the Pan-Florida Challenge for Hungry Kids (a cause close to the heart of co-owner Veljko Pavicevic).
With its feet wet, the restaurant is also planning on incorporating more such occasions into its calendar on an ongoing basis, with a Kobrand dinner set for Sept. 26 and an event to honor the 200th anniversary of Billecart-Salmon on Nov. 7.
