Don’t get intimidated by the gym. Getting in shape can be as simple as putting one foot in front of the other. Literally. Walking is one of the best ways to start exercising. A new study in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine found that people who walked just 150 minutes per week had a 20 percent lower risk of premature death. That’s only about 21 minutes per day. Of course, working out more often can only be better for you. But researchers found a world of difference between those who walked 150 minutes per week and those who had little or no physical activity.
