Overworked? We feel your pain.
Nearly one-half of Americans say they have to spend a portion of their free time to catch up on work, according to a study from the RAND Corporation.
The study was the first of its kind in years to look at the working conditions of Americans. Among the surprising findings: Nearly three-fourths reported facing intense physical exertion on the job; more than one-half reported working in unpleasant conditions; nearly two-thirds report working at high speeds or under tight deadlines.
But it’s not all bad news. Despite the negativity about the job itself, more than half say they have supportive bosses or good friends at work. Also, close to 80 percent say they find their work meaningful, to a degree.
