Having a hard time breaking the soda habit? Take it one drink at a time.
A study published in Nutrients found what it called “significant” calorie reductions in people who swapped out one can of soda for a glass of water each day. In the long run, the reduced sugar intake played a major role in lowering their risks for obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
“Regardless of how many servings of sugar-sweetened beverages you consume, replacing even just one serving can be of benefit,” said researcher Kiyah J. Duffey of Virginia Tech.
The best bet is to cut soda out of your diet completely. So, think of this as one step toward that goal.
