Bay Design Store: Blossom Blue by Victoria Bird and Kimberly Hill
Gulfshore Life’s inaugural Chairs for Charity event kicks off with standout craftsmanship from Southwest Florida’s top designers, including Bay Design Store’s Blossom Blue by Victoria Bird and Kimberly Hill. The duo reimagined a vintage frame with soft Gulf-inspired hues and modern coastal textures, creating a one-of-a-kind piece that reflects Naples’ design sensibility.
DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT Q&A
Where did you find the vintage chair?
We discovered this charming vintage chair on an online marketplace. The previous owners were making space for a new puppy and decided to part with it — lucky for us! It was the perfect blank canvas for a creative redesign.
What materials were used to redesign the chair?
We reimagined the chair using a gorgeous white performance fabric from our warehouse, chosen for both its beauty and durability. To give it a one-of-a-kind touch, we added handcrafted felt flowers that bring texture, artistry, and personality to the piece.
Where did you find inspiration for your chair design?
At Bay Design, we love designing for “a life less ordinary.” Our inspiration came from the natural beauty that surrounds us here in Naples — the aqua waterways, endless blue skies, soft white clouds, and sandy beaches. We wanted to capture those soothing coastal tones and the joy of nature through our handcrafted floral details — because flowers have a way of making everyone smile.
What was the process of designing and putting together the chair?
This project was all about creativity, craftsmanship, and community. We started with high quality materials and collaborated with small businesses. The felt flowers were sourced from a small online maker who handcrafts each bloom, and the upholstery was done by a local workroom known for its beautiful detailing and support of our design community.
How would you incorporate this chair into a space?
This chair is as versatile as it is beautiful. It can serve as an artful accent in an entryway, a lovely vanity chair in a bathroom or walk-in closet, or a statement piece in a bedroom. Wherever it’s placed, it adds a touch of charm, craftsmanship, and creativity to the space
