The Magic of Sorolla with Eli Cedrone

Few artists have exploited the effects of light as impressively as Joaquin Sorolla. Sunny scenes, dramatically lit interiors and a daring approach to outdoor portraiture made him one of the most important painters of the century.

Who doesn't want to paint like Sorolla? Eli will show you how to mix clean color in the correct value and temperature in order to create luminous light on sunlit figures in the landscape. We’ll work from the live, costumed model en plein air.

**In the event of inclement weather we’ll work in studio from the model.

Workshop runs from 9:30am to 4:30pm. On location in the morning, return to studio in the afternoon. Instructions will be sent for the outdoor location for each day. Students may wish to arrive early for set-up and reconnaissance. Brown bag lunches or restaurant lunch near the outdoor location, TBA. Supply lists emailed one month prior to the workshop. Join us for a little wine and snacks the last day!

Payment is via PayPal but you do not need a PayPal account for processing with the button below. You can just pay by credit card. Cancellation policy: Refundable up to 30 days prior. Within 30 days, refunds will only be available if your spot is filled from the waitlist. If you cannot get a refund, we will share limited recordings with you after the workshop so you have something to show for it!

For the plein air portion of the workshop, students provide their own plein air easel and supplies. You may wish to bring a sun umbrella. For the studio portion of the workshop, High Tide provides an easel, table and chair. You may leave you painting supplies at the studio overnight.
