For years people have heard the word "osteoporosis" and thought "women only." But a new report from the International Osteoporosis Foundation says that one in five men over 50 will suffer a fracture because of this condition. Men are, in fact, 27 percent more likely to break a bone because of osteoporosis than they are to get prostate cancer. Worst of all, the report says that men are twice as likely as women to die from one of these fractures. The key to avoiding the risk is to get enough calcium, check your vitamin D intake and exercise regularly with gravity-centric activities such as jogging, tennis or aerobics. (They help strengthen bones.)
