Each month, we ask local design professionals to share the makers and objects inspiring them today. In honor of the nation's 250th anniversary this July, Naples furniture maker and Stone Beach Design House co-founder Jeremy Jones shares three American-made pieces that exemplify the ingenuity, craftsmanship and individuality emerging from independent studios across the country.

Bell Chair by Studio Sam Klemick
Self-taught woodworker Sam Klemick left a 15-year career in fashion to launch her Los Angeles furniture design studio in 2019. Part of her first collection, the Bell Chair features hand-turned oak legs and a frame that cradles a plush, oversized cushion. Sam’s work has appeared in notable design shows from Milan Design Week’s Alcova to Design Miami. To Jeremy, the chair takes on a rustic quality. “The legs look just like cyprus nubs,” he says. “The bell shape gives off an organic, Bohemian feel.” studiosamklemick.com

Island Coffee Table by Opiary
“It’s like it grew out of the ground like a mushroom,” Jeremy says of Brooklyn-based Opiary’s Island Coffee Table. The hand-sculpted concrete table is 6.5 feet long and is available in six finishes, ranging from jet black to earthy terracotta. A fixture at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair—North America’s leading furniture design showcase—the design studio is known for founder Robert Remer’s material loyalty and biophilic approach. Saturn Lamp by Studio J McDonald
New York artist J McDonald explores the tension between the manufactured and natural world in his work, bending industrial materials into functional sculptures. Designed in 2021, Saturn Lamp blends classic elegance and science fiction futurism. “The shape is so badass,” Jeremy says. “It has this rock-and-roll vibe that I love.” The 33-inch-tall, two-toned metal design comes in blackened and stainless steel, and can be customized with alternative colorways. studiojmcdonald.com
