The Gerry Family
Ashley Gerry and her two children, Aniston, 9, and Parker, 6, love the active lifestyle Southwest Florida allows them. Having grown up playing volleyball, Ashley now coaches her daughter’s team in between shuttling the kids to tennis, football or rehearsals at Naples Performing Arts Center. On days off, they may stroll the Third Street Farmers’ Market, play at Baker Park with their Tibetan terrier or go to Cone 06 Pottery Painting Studio. When her stepkids are in town, the group ranges in ages from 6 to 18. Then, Celebration Park allows them plenty of space to spread out and select from the various food trucks. The Gerrys raise their children to care for others. In addition to supporting JDRF, Kids’ Minds Matter and Golisano Children’s Museum, the family sponsors a child from Tanzania through The Foundation For Tomorrow. “The kids and Jazmine can write back and forth, which gives them a personal connection from opposite sides of the world,” Ashley says.

The Botsford-Sablan Family
WINK News morning anchor Lindsay Sablan keeps unconventional hours with her 2 a.m. wake-up calls, but her schedule allows her precious after-school time with 3-year-old Cache and 5-year-old Harper. “While I miss breakfast, I get to do dinner, bath, bedtime story and prayer, and we do that every night,” she says. When dad, Florida Gulf Coast University’s women’s volleyball head coach Matthew Botsford, is traveling for games, Lindsay likes to take the kids to Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples. “As a parent, you spend so much time telling your kids, ‘No, don’t touch that,’” she says. “And you don’t have to use the word ‘no’ there—everything is meant to be touched.” When the family is all together, they may go hiking at CREW Cypress Dome Trails. “It has lots of short trails that are manageable for kids, and they always see birds, horses or even bobcat tracks,” she says.

The Pavich Family
For Estero-based advanced practice nurse practitioner and nurse anesthetist Jennifer Pavich, the things she likes to do with her children—Jacob, 6, Juliana, 8, and Joey, 10—are many of the same things she loved doing as a kid growing up in Fort Myers. “I like to introduce them to the things I did,” she says. That includes paddleboarding on the Estero River, hiking at Six Mile Cypress Lake Slough Preserve and rollerskating at Spinz. Boating is a big one, too. “It’s seriously how we got through the pandemic,” Jennifer says. She points to Flippers on the Bay, in Fort Myers Beach, as a favorite restaurant to pull up and enjoy the sunset view. The Pavichs have a big heart for the community, and as the kids get older, they’re joining their parents in supporting the Community Cooperative’s soup kitchen, SWFL Children’s Charities and Captains for Clean Water.

Lisa Juliano, the director of events and communications for the Naples Children & Education Foundation (NCEF), takes advantage of the city’s many family-friendly offerings with her daughter, 6-year-old Madison Luckman. “We try to switch it up,” Lisa says. One weekend, they may be strolling through the Naples Botanical Garden or Naples Zoo; the next they may be going to Vanderbilt Beach or a local park. “She loves going to The Continental, too,” Lisa says, of one of Madison’s favorite Naples restaurants. “Feeding the fish there is her favorite activity.”
