Maurizio Gamba grew up in 1980s Europe with a front-row seat to style—his mother and her circle shaped his taste early. Born with astigmatism, sunglasses became an essential. After moving to the United States in 2012, he spent a decade refining the concept for MauriGamba, testing manufacturers until he landed on Luxottica, the Italian eyewear giant behind Ray-Ban, Oakley and Persol.
Launched in 2023, the Naples-based brand blends Maurizio’s nostalgia for the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s with modern details. Think tortoiseshell paired with clear bases, chunky acetate sharpened with crisp bevels, and vintage rims reworked with contemporary sculpting. All frames—including eyeglasses with clip-on lenses for indoor-outdoor wearability—are crafted in Milan with TAC polarized lenses. Starting at $320, the line sits in the premium independent space, where refined design matters more than logo-driven luxury.
Across three collections—available online and through select local retailers, like Bruno Gift Shop and Renew-Yu spa—Maurizio gives classic shapes an unmistakable sense of contemporary coastal ease.
