Erica Current’s approach to treating everything from acne to fine lines and wrinkles goes far beyond what’s on the surface. “I want to get to the root cause of what’s going on, and honestly, it’s almost always something internal: inflammation, gut health, what you eat, your diet, exercise, hormones, an allergy,” the founder of The Skin Room in Naples says.
After getting her bachelor’s degree from Florida Southwestern State College in Skin Health and Facial Aesthetics and finishing the Advanced Paramedical Skincare program at the Florida Academy, she worked in doctors’ offices. During those formative years, she started thinking about how the industry could provide patients with more personalized protocols.
In 2020, Current started to conceptualize her boutique skincare clinic. She traveled to California to meet with aestheticians and experience every cutting-edge service she wanted to bring back to Naples. Her goal was to create a place where clients could receive a holistic approach to treatment using the latest technology.
With The Skin Room, located at the intersection of Vanderbilt Beach and Airport-Pulling Roads, she keeps Naples on the cusp of new skincare developments rather than waiting for cosmetic advances to trickle down from larger markets. The Skin Room offers services like PRX-T33. “It’s the most insane treatment ever. The results are amazing,” Current says of the nonsurgical treatment that tightens the skin, smooths wrinkles and removes scars without any downtime.
Having the right technology is only half of the equation. The other half is helping clients pinpoint and address underlying antagonists. She recalls one client who continued to experience breakouts after several visits to The Skin Room. So, Current sent her to get a food sensitivity test. “Turns out she’s allergic to almonds, so whenever she would have almond butter or almond milk, it created inflammation, and she was breaking out from it,” Current says.
This level of meticulous care and guidance keeps Current fully booked, with appointments available four months out. Some days, she doesn’t leave the aesthetician chair for 14 hours straight as she performs HydraFacials, microneedling, chemical peels and other treatments from early morning into the evening.

Current relies on newer technologies, including fibroblasting to stimulate collagen production, Muscle Banding to tone face and neck muscles, and the no-peel PRX-T33 biorevitalizer.
And, you can’t simply call and book a treatment. Instead of having an à la carte menu of services, The Skin Room works on a chef’s-choice-like system. During an initial two-hour consultation, clients talk about their medical histories, allergies and skin complications. From there, Current customizes a plan. “You’ll probably never get the same treatment twice. There’s always something I’m adding or making different,” she says.
Once or twice every month, her clients—who she emphasizes include men and women—step foot inside her wellness suite, adorned with neon-colored glycolic acid molecule posters and an LED periodic table hanging on the walls. Shelves showcase seven or so medical-grade skincare products from brands like ZO Skin Health and Obagi. After an appointment, Current pulls out a branded RX pad for “prescriptions” with recommended products for morning and nighttime routines.
When it comes to those results, Current’s not going for an age-defying effect. Instead, she focuses on making her clients look like the best versions of themselves. “I’m not going to make you look younger—that’s not my job,” she says. “My job is to get your skin the healthiest it can be, and then you look youthful because of that.”
