The Spa Day, Reimagined at Naples Beach Club

The Sanctuary pairs massages and facials with Southwest Florida's first co-ed hydrotherapy circuit and an $160K recovery machine favored by pro athletes.

When the Naples Beach Club, A Four Seasons Resort, opened last year, replacing the 75-year-old icon that stood in its place, the resort wasn’t trying to rewrite the rules. The $1 billion-plus redevelopment was designed to blend with Old Naples and the former hotel. 

The spa is a different story. 

Opened in March, The Sanctuary Spa at Naples Beach Club spans 30,000 square feet across three levels, with 13 treatment rooms, celebrity-designed fitness programs, recovery technology and a co-ed hydrotherapy circuit.

Southwest Florida has no shortage of massages, facials, med spas and recovery studios. But the modern luxury destination day spa has remained largely absent. The Sanctuary enters the space, with its hospitality and design setting an indulgent tone, and programming folding in noninvasive aesthetics and high-tech recovery. 

Champalimaud Design—behind The St. Regis New York and Hotel Bel-Air—carried the resort’s relaxed, residential sensibility into the spa through vaulted corridors, woven rattan and tropical tile murals hand-painted by Guadalajara’s Cerámica Suro workshop. Upstairs, men’s and women’s lockers weave through saunas, lounge areas and grooming vanities, stocked for freshening up. The spaces converge at The Sanctuary’s defining feature: a 3,200-square-foot hydrotherapy circuit.

The co-ed contrast bathhouse expands beyond the now-ubiquitous sauna-and-cold-plunge pairing. There’s a warm, jetted soaking pool; steam and dry saunas; multisensory showers; a cold plunge; and an ambient ice room for gentler cold therapy. Heated and cooled marble benches offer convenient spaces to reset between cycles. 

During a visit to The Sanctuary, you can go from a reformer class or weightlifting session at the fitness center (designed by Rihanna and Lady Gaga trainer Harley Pasternak) to the hydro circuit, before retreating to a treatment room. Menus range from prenatal massages to post-sun body treatments to facials incorporating LED therapy and biomimetic products from cult Swiss skincare line Margy’s Monte Carlo.

Delivering on desires for noninvasive, natural-looking aesthetics, the spa offers a suite of endermologie services, the French body treatment popular in red-carpet prep for its temporary sculpting and depuffing effects. Further along the modern wellness spectrum, the spa dips into the medical-resort sphere with IV drips, oxygen therapy and cryotherapy. 

On the more futuristic end sits the Ammortal Chamber, a biohacking system with a zero-gravity lounger and light-emitting canopy that combines five recovery therapies in one session.

A first for the Four Seasons brand globally, the machine is designed to work primarily on the autonomic nervous system, claiming to help the body shift from fight-or-flight into a more restorative parasympathetic state. Its red light, PEMF and molecular hydrogen layers are also said to support cellular repair and activation. The $160,000 tool has been used by professional athletic teams, including the Los Angeles Rams and Denver Broncos, and by players at the U.S. Open. While studies confirming its effects remain limited, users commonly report feeling rested, alert and calm after a session.

For all its glowing gadgetry, much of the spa’s experience unfolds at a tactile, unhurried pace. Guests linger between circuits in microsuede-lined robes, conversing over tea or settling into loungers by the lap pool outside. The tools and treatments may be newer, but the impulse feels familiar to the historic Naples Beach Club: giving people a place to gather, unwind and stay awhile.
