The Face of Philanthropy
The nonprofit helps parents in need keep their children out of foster care, find work and obtain tools and support to thrive.
For thousands of Florida parents stretched to the breaking point, foster care seems inevitable—but Better Together helps rewrite the story.
Through volunteer host families, dedicated mentors, and professional support, Better Together provides children with safe places to stay while helping parents regain stability. The result speaks for itself: 98% of children served through hosting and mentoring avoid entering foster care altogether.
Better Together CEO Megan Rose built the organization after more than a decade of working inside Florida’s child welfare system, where she grew frustrated by its limitations. Her preventative approach puts community, dignity, and compassion at the center.
Megan’s leadership has drawn statewide and national recognition. She’s a Manhattan Institute Civil Society Fellow and a recipient of its Civil Society Award. Better Together was recognized as The Community Foundation’s 2020 Nonprofit Rising Organization of the Year and SWFL Inc.’s 2022 Nonprofit of the Year. In 2024, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Megan to the Florida Faith-Based and Community-Based Advisory Council and awarded her the 2024 Volunteer Agency Service Award. What began in 2015 as a one-woman effort in Naples has evolved into a movement that spans 48 Florida counties. By 2030, the team aims to help families statewide.
